My studio is the great outdoors. From coastal mountain top to
the backside of the Channel Islands, I work directly from life,
en plein air, observing natures nuances moment by moment. Time
of day and weather set the stage for a scene that continually
changes. The challenge lies in choosing a moment to capture, then
distilling it to the point where the subject matter becomes secondary
and an expression of the emotional experience emerges.
My gear is minimal giving me the freedom to experience nature
quietly and deeply. If everything is right, the task is to paint
something that will somehow express the profound effect that this
process has on me.
