My interest in monotype developed in 1992 when I was awarded an
Eldon Boyd fellowship from Crane school to study printmaking at
the Graphics Workshop in Santa Fe, New Mexico. There I spent a
month working with Ron Pokrasso and exploring monotype. My monotypes
are concerned with nature and abstraction. Many of my prints include
letterforms, reflecting my interest in calligraphy.
The
adult education classes that I have taken over the years have
been a source of both inspiration and skill building. Of particular
importance has been my time in Rose Margaret Braiden's classes
where I learned to love the transparency and fluidity of watercolor
and to appreciate its long history. My watercolors reflect my
fascination with color and the beauty of the natural world.
